The Art and Science of Restorative Environments
Evidence-Based Design. Transformative Results.
The Blueprint for Your Sanctuary
Each project is a unique collaboration, born from our client's vision and guided by our evidence-based framework. We blend rigorous research with intuitive design to create spaces that are not only beautiful but are precision-engineered to restore and inspire. Explore a selection of our projects below.

London Courtyard: A Modernist Retreat
Our client desired a seamless indoor-outdoor sanctuary in a compact urban space. We used sculptural forms and a curated palette of bespoke materials to create a private world that feels both expansive and intimately peaceful, extending the living space of the home.
Greenwich roof Garden: An Urban Family Oasis
This project transformed a wasted roof space into a multi-functional sanctuary. The design integrates a custom climbing wall, a soothing water feature, and a fire pit with wrap-around seating, creating a restorative escape for adults and an adventurous play zone for their child.

Private Residential Gardens
A garden should be more than a space; it should be a sanctuary. Below is a selection of private residential gardens, each one a unique collaboration designed to be a restorative retreat. These are real-world examples of our philosophy in action, where the art of design meets the science of well-being to create spaces of personal transformation. Please, explore these projects to see the tangible results of our evidence-based approach.

Mildmay Hospital: A Garden for Healing and Dignity
This evidence-based therapeutic landscape was designed to provide a restorative haven for patients, staff, and visitors. The design harnesses the principles of biophilia to create a measurable positive impact on patient well-being and recovery times.

RHS Hampton Court: An Award-Winning Community Sanctuary
In collaboration with the Emmaus charity and with royal patronage, we designed and built this Silver-Gilt medal-winning show garden at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The project demonstrates the power of co-creation and the social impact of restorative green spaces.
The Kids Company Playspace: A Sanctuary for the Inner Hero
Designed in close collaboration with the children of Kids Company, a remarkable London-based charity for disadvantaged urban youth, this show garden was a testament to the restorative power of play. The entire playscape was built around the triumphant theme of Lewis Carroll's poem 'Frabjous Day,' acting as a physical metaphor for the hero's quest.
This was not just a garden, but an imaginative sanctuary engineered to be a safe 'play escape' from daily pressures. Every element, from the musical pathway to the augmented 'instruments,' was designed to foster a sense of joy and empowerment. Through the journey of the garden, children were invited to connect with their own 'inner hero'—discovering their resilience, creativity, and strength. This is well-being, redefined for the unique landscape of childhood, where restoration is found through the magic of imaginative play."

Design Studies & Conceptual Work
Beyond our built work, we are constantly exploring the future of restorative environments through research, conceptual design, and large-scale proposals. This is a look at our design thinking in action.
Conceptual Design for Guys & St Thomas' Hospital
A video presentation of our proposed therapeutic landscape for one of London's leading hospitals, demonstrating our process for tackling complex, large-scale healthcare environments.
Conceptual Design for Guy's & St Thomas' Hospital
This conceptual design for a leading London hospital showcases the future of restorative landscapes. It is a healing garden engineered to be a powerful tool in patient recovery, built on the profound principles of biophilia and embodied cognition.
The design creates a rich, multi-sensory journey designed to reduce stress and actively engage the body's natural healing responses. The space is filled with accessible pathways, a curated palette of scented and edible plants, and varied textures that invite touch. Every element is designed to work in concert, creating a cohesive therapeutic environment that leverages the full play of the senses to heighten awareness, elevate mood, and ground patients in the present moment.
To validate the restorative impact of the design, the garden integrates discreet bio-sensing technology. This allows for the real-time measurement of the physiological benefits of the environment, providing invaluable data that proves the connection between biophilic design and human well-being. This turns the garden from a passive space into an interactive, evidence-based partner in the healing process.

"Global Garden: Game Over" – A Blueprint for a Restorative Future
In an age of climate anxiety, we asked a critical question: What is the role of a garden? 'Global Garden: Game Over' is our answer. Developed in partnership with the Ashton Climate Change Charity, this is our proposed entry for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2027.
The design presents a powerful metaphor for our modern condition. The outer world is depicted as a stark, challenging landscape—a reference to the ecological 'game' we are at risk of losing. Visitors must engage in a conscious journey through an interactive, high-tech path, representing the choices we must make to move towards a better future.
The destination of this journey is not an escape, but a prototype for a better reality: a protected, biophilic sanctuary. Inside this modern paradise, lush planting and the restorative sound of water create a space engineered for human well-being—a 'Garden Locus' that demonstrates how we can create pockets of restoration and hope.
This project also serves as a potential PhD case study in neuro-environmental design. Following the show, our goal is to relocate the garden permanently to East Marsh, Grimsby, transforming a conceptual show garden into a lasting community asset. We are currently inviting a select group of visionary corporate partners to join us in bringing this project to life, offering a unique opportunity to align their brand with a high-profile, mission-driven venture at the world's most prestigious garden show.
A Foundation in Horticultural Excellence
Our evidence-based methodology is built upon a deep, hands-on foundation of classic horticultural craft and landscape construction.
