Profile in a Garden .png

The story of a lifelong dialogue between nature, neuroscience, and the search for human flourishing. Garden Loci was founded on a simple, powerful belief: our environment is not a passive backdrop, but an active partner in the quality of our lives.

Our Roots Aren't in Design—They're in the Earth.

"From my earliest childhood, I understood that the world spoke in a language older than words. I found my solace in nature, sharing my troubles with ancient trees and patient, listening animals. Nature wasn't just a place to me; it was a sanctuary where I felt seen and heard. This intuitive, sacred connection to the land—its ability to listen, to hold, and to heal—is the seed from which Garden Loci grew. It is the continuation of a lifelong dialogue with the living world."

"An intuitive belief demands proof. My journey began with a personal research mission to learn from the world's masters—pioneering landscape architects like Martha Schwartz, poetic minimalists like Fernando Caruncho, and philosophers of space like Alain de Botton. This was a quest to understand the DNA of a healing place.

But a theory is meaningless until it touches a life. We applied these principles where they were needed most, creating gardens of dignity for HIV/AIDS patients at Mildmay Hospital, places of peace for hospice residents in Yorkshire, and a sanctuary for the formerly homeless with the Emmaus charity. These projects became the heart of our work—living proof that a well-designed space can be a locus of healing, transforming pain into peace and despair into hope."

"The Vision: Landscaping Minds"

This short film explores the 30-year obsession behind our methodology—a journey from intuitive connection to the proven science of how our environments shape our minds."

"The Method: The Bridge Between the Poetic and the Proven"

Our journey pointed to one truth: the link between our environment and our well-being is not just poetic, it's biological.

Today, our methodology stands at the intersection of biophilic design, neuroscience, and wellness coaching. It is continuously sharpened by our Founder's PhD research in Neuro-Environmental Design at the University of Sheffield, in collaboration with world-leading neuroscientist Professor Prescott.

Furthermore, our work is deeply informed by the pioneering research of the Humanise movement, integrating the findings of experts like psychologist Professor Colin Ellard on psychological responses to spaces and neuroscientist Cleo Valentine on 'architectural neuroimmunology'.

This scientific rigor is grounded in the real-world clinical perspective of our Scientific Advisory Board, which includes two practicing surgeons (MD, PhD) who provide invaluable insight into the Gut-Brain Axis—the direct physiological link between environmental stress and digestive health. 3

This is the meaning behind the name of our process: 'Garden Loci'. We take the ancient wisdom of the 'Garden' and prove it with the rigorous, modern science of the 'Loci', our proprietary diagnostic for analysing the intersection of space, psychology, and performance."
